Disneyland Paris at Chessy on Seine-et-Marne will officially celebrate its 30th anniversary on April 12, 2022. But the festivities began this weekend, Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6, 2022, and will continue until summer. You only turn 30 once! Under a beautiful winter sun, the unmasked atmosphere was more carefree than ever, a brace in a turbulent time, a means of returning to childhood.
From the entrance, the new decoration proudly showcases the 30th anniversary logo to welcome families and fans out onto the completely repainted and color-filled Main Street.
Shaped Disney characters
A little further on, at the foot of the brand new Sleeping Beauty castle after a full year of renovation, we discover “enchanted gardens” and 30 mobile phones.
All around the central square, these colorful metal works, each representing a character, add poetic embellishment. And at night, when the plants around them become fluorescent, it’s another sight.
With the pandemic, many attractions have been renovated. There, too, new paintings like the Peter Pan charm or Buzz Lightyear, and decors with colors that come alive with lighting.
Another innovation is the opportunity to take a photo with Minnie in her new costume designed by Stella McCartney at the Studio Theatre: a pantsuit, a first for Minnie.
A show for the 30th anniversary
But don’t we say “the highlight of the show”? Magic is also live shows, and for its 30th anniversary, Disney introduced a brand new show: “Dream… and Shine Brighter!” “.
Mickey, Minnie and the entire gang parade on colorful floats and sing in their new costumes to the sound of the new birthday anthem. A new daily parade to be seen in the middle aisle where everyone stops dancing.
Drones in a show: a world first at Disney
In the evenings, it is featured by the “Disney lightings” show and the new “Disney D-light” series with new lightings and the choreography of 200 drones in the sky above the castle.
“We’ve been secretly working on this project for 8 months, we’ve been testing in the fields, there were only 50 people who were aware of it,” says Ben Spalding, executive producer of Disney shows, which celebrates 30 years. At Disney on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
“It has not been done in any park, it is a first in the world! We made a lot of people jealous,” she smiles.
He worked with Dronisos, a Bordeaux startup, to set this up. “They had the information, but we still asked them to go further,” he laughs. You should never limit your creativity in order to give emotion. My goal is to make people cry, but that’s what makes me happy the most.”
With tears and stars in their eyes, 30 years later, Disney still wants us to dream.
