KEBEK, June 6, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – The Government of Quebec is donating $20 million to Université Laval to build a tennis center that will host national and international competitions and be open to the public. This envelope comes from the Capitale-Nationale Secretariat.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Security and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region, Mr.I Geneviève Guilbault, Minister of Finance Mr. Eric Girard and President of the University lavalMI Sophie D’Amours made the announcement.
The purpose of this project is to provide the campus and district with facilities that allow it to both foster and encourage community sports practice, develop our young athletes, support the sport of excellence, and host celebrity sporting events. The project includes the construction of outdoor courts to host ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) or WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) competitions and indoor courts to significantly increase not only regional capacity but also accessibility to this popular sport.
