Martinique fully integrated into the adventure of the Paralympic Games in Pa


Selected by the Paris 2024 Olympic Committee on Friday, April 8, 2022, Martinique’s proposal Martinique is embarking on the Paralympic Games adventure. This label aims to highlight good practices throughout Martinique and encourage even more sports in everyday life.

France is preparing to host the Paralympic Games for the first time in its history from 28 August to 8 September 2024. The event will bring together 4,350 athletes from 182 delegations authorized to participate in various events of 22 Paralympic sports.

A “Terre de Jeux 2024” sticker is designed for local governments and sports movements of all levels (federations, CROS-CDOS, CTOS) who want to participate in the Game adventure, whatever their size and vehicle.

The candidacy of Martinique “Label Land of Games 2024” was defended by a delegation from CTM and CTOSMA last March. The final decision will be announced on Friday. 8 April 2022, by Serge Letchimy, President of the CTM Executive Council, and Yannick Etienne-Notte, President of the Martiniquais Institute of Sports.

With this tag we include Martinique in the Olympic and Paralympic adventure. Martiniques will thus be able to experience the emotions of the Olympic Games. Thanks to sport, which is the vector of this change in daily life and strengthening our collective harmony, we have the opportunity to open new windows and opportunities for everyone.

Overseas Paralympic athletes in Tokyo

The Paris 2024 Olympic Committee welcomed Martinique’s hosting capacity for top athletes in terms of sports infrastructure and its ambition to become a key player in the 2024 Olympics.

Beyond the commitment to the values ​​and ambition of Paris 2024, Martinique will continue to implement sports-related programs.
These actions revolve around three goals:
• Bringing feelings of sports and Games to the population.
• Adding more sports to daily life: at school, on the street…
• Revitalize and grow the Paris 2024 community in the region.

As stated in the organization texts and regulations, the organizing committee of the games multiplies the actions. Since the application stage, Paris 2024 has committed to making different games.

Thanks to the Paralympic Games, Paris 2024 wants to offer:

– Games to inspire,

– Games to be included,

– Games that will mobilize the community.

Following the Martinique example, communities with the tag “Terre de Jeux 2024” will be able, for the first time in the history of the Games, to:
• Utilize a special visual identity and communication tools to be associated with the games.
• Take advantage of the Games’ focus to promote their territories.
• Get exclusive access to game information, tools and events.
• Join the Terre de Jeux 2024 community and share best practices and advice with other hashtags.

with the status “Terre de Jeux 2024” is on the list of potential regions to host the Olympic flame, such as Martinique, Guadeloupe, Guyana and Reunion.

The main stages of determining the route of the torch relay began at the end of 2021.

In 2023, we will learn about the design of the Olympic torch and the Paralympic torch, followed by the route of the torch run, which will be announced in April 2024.

All regions want to welcome the flame. LThe Paralympic Games will be held in Paris from 28 August to 8 September 2024.
