“Although they are now independent when it comes to cooking and cleaning, I devote 100% of my time to them. But they also bring their daily problems with them: care, medicine, nutrition…” The owner of the building daily shopping, sending refugees to the governor’s office, the doctor or just at the bank. “We could move more easily if we could find a minibus that fits our budget,” says Caroline.

Four days before the arrival of the Ukrainian refugees, the Jones family welcomed Reed Rogers, a young engineer from Texas, who will assist the couple in their first stay in La Chapelle-au-Riboul this summer. “She’s been very helpful to us,” admits Caroline Jones.

In terms of needs, the couple believes that they are well provided for today. “Our neighbors and the British community have been very generous. If we were to host a few more families, we would run out of single beds, but that’s it. On a daily basis, their food needs are plentiful. “The Rastas of the Heart also help us a lot. We accept donations of pasta, rice, meat, butter…”

Caroline and Jerry Jones also offered their apprentices some land to build a vegetable garden. The idea is also to entertain these mothers whose husbands are stuck in a country at war.

When they arrived they saw that we had many period costumes, so I decided to throw them a fancy dress party with a big meal.
