It’s been four years since carolina and jerry jonestwo inhabitants Los Angeles (United States of America), bought all the buildings. Perrine’s Housewith La Chapelle-au-Riboul. After some work they wanted to make one. summer school for young people americans. But since March 11, 2022, the couple has suspended all their plans for this building. “Jerry saw requests to host Ukrainians on Facebook. We have a lot of space, so he immediately thought of hosting some,” says Caroline Jones, who is a little more reluctant than her husband.
We do not open this part of the school in winter because the fuel burns too much. We consume 90 to 100 liters of fuel per day. I was wondering how we were going to pay.
However, the couple was able to count on the great generosity of those around them to face these accusations.
100% of my time
Between 11 and 21 March 2022, eighteen Ukrainians, consisting of eleven women and seven children, took over the Maison de Perrine. “The town hall helps us a lot. He did everything to admit the children to the village school. »
“Although they are now independent when it comes to cooking and cleaning, I devote 100% of my time to them. But they also bring their daily problems with them: care, medicine, nutrition…” The owner of the building daily shopping, sending refugees to the governor’s office, the doctor or just at the bank. “We could move more easily if we could find a minibus that fits our budget,” says Caroline.

Four days before the arrival of the Ukrainian refugees, the Jones family welcomed Reed Rogers, a young engineer from Texas, who will assist the couple in their first stay in La Chapelle-au-Riboul this summer. “She’s been very helpful to us,” admits Caroline Jones.
In terms of needs, the couple believes that they are well provided for today. “Our neighbors and the British community have been very generous. If we were to host a few more families, we would run out of single beds, but that’s it. On a daily basis, their food needs are plentiful. “The Rastas of the Heart also help us a lot. We accept donations of pasta, rice, meat, butter…”
Caroline and Jerry Jones also offered their apprentices some land to build a vegetable garden. The idea is also to entertain these mothers whose husbands are stuck in a country at war.
When they arrived they saw that we had many period costumes, so I decided to throw them a fancy dress party with a big meal. The aim is not to belittle what is happening in their country, but to change their minds. They experience a lot of sadness and stress. They are usually on their cell phones to get news. Sad. We also pray a lot together. We became real friends.
Manual or sports activities are also offered daily.
This summer, young Americans will stay at the Maison de Perrine, while Ukrainian refugees and their children will have to join host families. If host families agree to welcome them for three weeks, Ukrainians at la Maison de Perrine should feel free to introduce themselves via their Facebook page.
